ICL artificial lens implantation – solution if you are not suitable for laser vision correction
A number of modern laser vision correction procedures are available these days, but still not for everyone. Until now, vision correction procedures in Hungary have not been able to treat patients with thin corneas or high dioptres. ICL lenses can provide a solution for them.
Advantages of using ICL the artificial lens:
Are contact lenses or glasses a constant compromise and extra expense for you?
The ICL lens gives you that freedom which is now out of reach due to the daily annoyances of wearing contact lenses or glasses. Your favourite pastime or new experiences are just an arm’s length away, thanks to ICL lenses.
An ICL lens is an implantable lens that works with the eye to provide the correct visual acuity. In contrast to traditional contact lenses that are placed on the surface of the eye, ICL lenses are implanted in the eye, between the iris and the lens, independently of the iris. In case of any problems with vision, the lens can be easily removed at any time.
The ‘natural’ lens
The ICL lens is made from Collamer, a special lens material developed using state-of-the-art technology. The base material of Collamer is collagen, a protein also present in our body, which makes it biocompatible with the eye, as opposed to a foreign body, thus ensuring a quality visual experience. The lens is at rest at all times, while accurately correcting vision. When designing the Collamer lens, special attention was paid to ensure that it is in natural harmony with the patient’s eyes.
The key to success
The ICL lens was approved in Europe in 1997 and in the United States in 2005. During this time, more than 550,000 patients have had this lens implanted in their eyes by trained ophthalmologists. According to a clinical survey, 99% of patients are satisfied with the results.
What might the future hold?
As you get older, your vision naturally changes (gets worse), and as a result cataracts develop in almost everyone. As the ICL lens retains the original structure of the eye, it can be removed at any time if you need another eye surgery in the future (e.g. lens surgery due to cataract).
Having this detailed and comprehensive eye examination is the first step to a successful ICL surgery. The test consists of various diagnostic tests and is completely painless.
Based on the examination data, our ophthalmologists determine the eligibility of the patient for laser vision correction. It will be determined which types of treatment are appropriate for the patient in order to achieve the best possible result, which can ensure perfect vision without glasses or contact lenses.

CONTACT LENS TYPE | WHEN SHOULD I REMOVE MY CONTACT LENSES? |
---|---|
Soft contact lens | 3 days before the test |
Hard contact lens | 3 weeks before the test |
What happens before the surgery?

Do not wear make-up 24 hours before the operation.
It is recommended that you avoid consuming alcohol 24 hours before and 48 hours after the surgery.
